7.30.08– Wednesday

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I need to get some folgers 1/2 caff. coffee. This is ridiculous– ulcer or no ulcer, although the ulcer was kind of bad this morning. Gravelly speech, stomach ache and heartburn (especially after taking my medicine).

  • coffee 3C–10kcal
  • 1T Sugar–48kcal
  • 2T Creamer–20kcal
  • 1/2C lactose free, fat free milk– 45kcal
  • Dannon Activa Yogurt– 110kcal
  • Everyseed bagel– 350kcal
  • 1T lite cream cheese– 105kcal
  • water 12oz– 0kcal
  • Lean Cuisine, chicken chow mein–260kcal=948kcal sbtl (leaves 452 kcal for dinner)… I can do it!

Went to gym and used elliptical 1/2 hour (worked pretty hard). STILL under 150–149.8. HOORAY for me!!! I did not feel very chipper the last few days…. I’m just dragging and wishing I could call in sick. I think I felt better last week. I wonder if my diet is worse (less fresh food), so that’s why I don’t feel better.

7.29.08– Tuesday

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Coffee woes. I had decaf coffee at home two mornings now, and I’m unbelievably tired by the time I get to work. Then I have real coffee once I get here. The quitting coffee thing is a farce.

  • Coffee–4C (decaf and regular)–5kcal
  • 2T sugar–100kcal
  • 1/4C lactose free, fat free milk– 25kcal
  • 2t nondairy creamer–20kcal
  • Lean Cuisine–salisbury steak 190kcal
  • water 16oz.–0
  • some tasty tasty ice cream buster bar kind of treat thing– 180kcal
  • Pork Chops Marsala (Cooking Light)–242kcal x 3 servings (RATS, I couldn’t help myself it tasted so good! Does this count as binging? I finished Mary’s portion, and then I had another portion, and I almost polished off Stu’s portion before he came back for dinner… ma-a-a-n!
  • peas and carrots, 1C–80kcal
  • brown rice– 1 1/2 C–324kcal=1650kcal RATS, that ruined my 5-day at appx. 1400kcal goal. No new presents this week,

EXCEPT I was under 150 lbs so I bought 2 shirts at Nordstrom.com. AND I did exercise on the elliptical 1/2 hour (albeit slowly and without much gumption). I think I’m ready to retry the couch to 5k thing again next week sometime.

7.28.08– Goals (mini-sized)

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Here are my goals from 7.7.08

  1. 5 days exercise (M-F) during noon hour 30 minutes (or some configuration). If I do that, I get to buy something :).
  2. 5 days of 1400kcal (M-F) (eating and recording!!). If I do that, I get to buy something else :).
  3. No binging for unspecified number of days (although 30 would be nice)
  4. NEW GOAL Exercise Saturday and Sunday. If I do that, I get to buy something.
  5. NEW GOAL Break 150. I started at around 155, but I can’t seem to get below 150.6

I completed goal #1 last week, so I bought myself some recycling bins today. I know that seems pathetic, but I’ve been wanting some NICE ones for a long time now. Hooray for me! I think I’m on day nine with no binging. I have not stayed within my kcal range of 1300-1500, but I also haven’t binged either– a little overeating maybe, but nothing that would fall in the binge category. Again, yay me!

If I complete goal #2, I get a NICE pillow that I already have picked out.

If I complete goal #4, I get some new Nike workout SOCKS from Smiths shoes!!!!

If I complete goal #1 for a second time, I get some towels from giaim.com. Whee!

#5 Goal completed– I broke 150lbs. for the first time in a long time. I think I was below 150 for a couple of weeks last November, but aside from that, it’s been over a year or more since I was below that (at least since I quit smoking on September 6th of last year).  I bought two shirts from Nordstrom’s

08.01.08#1 Goal completed for second week in a row! I get to buy something. Hmm, the pillow or the socks? I just can’t decide. Will decide after I actually exercise at noon! I’m counting my chickens before they’re hatched!!!!

7.28.08–Monday

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Had decaf coffee this morning at home, but it didn’t work. I had to have real coffee when I got to work. Ulcer seems pretty good actually. Haven’t noticed heartburn or bad coughing. I still cough in the morning when I bend over, but it isn’t violent…. My voice does crack some when I talk on the phone, but it also doesn’t seem as violent as it was. Also still get choked up when I laugh.

  • Coffee 4C–10kcal
  • 1T sugar–48
  • 1/2C lowfat, lactose free milk–45
  • 3T half and half–30kcal
  • yogurt drink–100kcal (guess)
  • Lean cuisine (sweet n sour chicken)–330kcal=563kcal (sbtl)
  • South Beach high energy bar–140kcal= 703kcal sbtl (3:30pm)
  • 2 bowls of chili–600kcal=1303
  • 1/4 yogos rollup–30kcal=1333
  • 5 kashi crackers–50kcal=1383
  • 4T hummus–100kcal=1483
  • 1/2C cran grape w/splenda–5kcal=1488 Phew! just made it

Exercized at noon hour 1/2 hour on elliptical (medium intensity, but heart rate was up=cardio). Seemed fairly easy even though I had missed two days over the weekend. Weight is 150.6. We’ll see if it goes up on Wednesday as a result of Sundays chocolate cake. Sarah thinks that it takes 3 days for food to become part of you. If that’s the case, then by Wednesday the buffet I had on Sunday should show up…. It’ll be a little test.

I did 5 days of exercise last week so I got to buy myself a prize (see goals posting).

  12. Tuesday 08.05.08 1/2 hour C25K at noon (kind of fun)
  13. Friday 08.08.08 1/2 hour C25K at noon (really didn’t want to!!!)
  14. Monday 08.18.08 1/2 hour Elliptical at noon (SLOW; first day back is a bear)
  15. Monday 08.26.08 1/2 hour on track (light) and some stretching/ab exercizes/pushups (5?? girly ones) in the evening
  16. Monday 9.08.08 1/2 hour on track walking (difficult)
  17. Tuesday 09.16.08 1/2 hour on elliptical (pretty hard) tried to keep my heart rate between 150/160.
  18. Wednesday 09.17.08 1/2 hour on elliptical (not as hard as yesterday) kept heart rate in 140s mostly.
  19. Thursday 09.18.08 1/2 hour on elliptical (fairly hard heart rate 145-150 mostly– two more days= sweat pants!!!!
  20. Walked 1/2 hour 09.19.08. VERY SLOWLY because my hip flexor is bothering me. Will try to exercise more this evening.

Am trying to gently add core conditioning and stretching and weights to the above, but am still working out the snags on that. I did five days this week, which means I get a reward. I did not keep good track of my kcals though, and I have to do that too in order to lose weight. Current weight is 151.8. Really, really, really want to get UNDER 150; that’s my first mini-goal.

Saturdays are especially troublesome in terms of the exercise, because it’s the day I want to get everything else done. I KNOW in my heart of hearts, however, that it’s much better to set the time aside and exercise, BECAUSE I have more energy and stamina in the long run. Maybe if I’m good through the week, I can use Saturday to work on new routines (weights, core conditioning, exercise ball, etc) from home. I’ll try that today….

Whoops, no exercise on Wednesday 7.23.08; birthday lunch at Lennie’s instead. Thanks Erin!

Whoops, nope, no exercise to speak of today 7.26.08– rats; had to fight for the tv and was tired by pm. Whoops, nope, no exercise today 7.27.08 except walking at New Harmony– too tired by pm. Two days off in a row isn’t good. Must try to do weekend AM!!! so that I don’t lose my umph by the pm….

Monday 28th through Wednesday 30th were pretty okay. Very good that I made it. Was too tired in the morning to go to the YMCA, but I will try to go tomorrow, because I think i’ve been invited to lunch at noon. The pace and progress is pretty good with the exercise. I’m increasing the intensity and incline/resistance a little every day, so my body doesn’t get too used to it. Will start “couch to 5k” program next week I think. My planter fasciitus (sp?) is not bothering me, and even though I’m tired in the morning, I do seem to have a little more energy in the evenings… not just completely falling into the couch every night.

So what happened with the 10 days off from 08.08– 08.18? I was sick (TOM), and then we were busy at work with IR mailing, then we were busy partying AFTER the IR mailing, and then I was depressed because I was all off track and had gained weight. I don’t know how to keep this cycle from repeating itself when the rest of the world gets in the way!!!!

07.26.08– Saturday kcal

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Okay, I’m going to keep track of my calories here to the best of my abilities using the www.calorie-count.com.

  • coffee (1/2 decaf and 1/2 lite), 4C– 10kcal 7am
  • Sugar, 1T– 48kcal
  • Lactose free, fat free milk, 1/2C–45kcal
  • Yoplait light peach (w/aspartame–Yuck!)– 100kcal (I don’t like artificial sweeteners of any kind– would rather have the sugar) 10am
  • 1 fluoxetine 20mg (have to take this with food now so I don’t get heartburn/ulcer side effect)
  • 1 boca burger–140kcal
  • 1 white (yuck) bun–110kcal
  • 2T ketchup–30kcal
  • 1T mustard–3kcal
  • 2 fried potatoes–100kcal (guessing here a bit)
  • bacon 1 piece– 50kcal= 636sbtl 3:30pm
  • Iced water
  • 100kcal popcorn=736 sbtl 5:30pm

so I should have 600-700kcal left for dinner/snacks this evening….hmmmm

  • Corona–153
  • hot dog–142
  • bun–110
  • plus a couple of bites of Mary’s meal, ketchup, mustard and couple swigs of lemonade–999kcal for all day (a little low!)

I am trying to quit the coffee altogether because apparently I have an ulcer. Coffee does bother the ulcer now sometimes (heartburn), but it’s the one thing I can’t seem to give up completely. I like a nice beverage in the morning when I’m thinking through my day. I have been able to (on a good day) drink water throughout the day, except in the morning. I think I need something that isn’t coffee, tea or acidic… haven’t figured out what that would be yet Oh yes, I have! Licorice root!!! [It’s probably yucky, but it’s worth a try.]

7.23.08– 47 years old today

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Which is a little like a New Year’s Day which means this might be a time for resolutions. Especially at 47, I’m running out of time to make the changes, although I feel pretty lucky to have made it this far.

Topics for discussion/improvement/development are:

  • genealogy
  • weight loss, diet, exercise (overall health issues)
  • relationships
  • gardening
  • politics
  • alternative energy
  • web site abilities
  • tidbits

Today I’m thinking about the fact that I’m well-intentioned, but I don’t seem to follow through on much– to project completion. I need to figure out how to
